What is GioNa?

A national organized Association of Local Authorities which have developed initiatives of relevant interest in the field of playing. The Playing Cities gather in order to guarantee to everybody the right to play and to play well.

Who may become a GioNa member?

The number of members is unlimited. The Municipalities, the mountain Communities, the Provinces may become GioNa members, that is to say all local Authorities, according to the provisions of the art. 2 of the law decree n. 267 of 18th August 2000, which have developed initiatives of relevant interest in the field of games, which have toy-libraries, game centres, specialized libraries or libraries with sections dedicated to playing, toy or game museums and those in which toys and games are produced or which may prove an appropriate playing tradition connected with values of social, historical and cultural character.

Which advantages has a town in becoming a GioNa member?

Becoming a GioNa member means being part of a national coordination in the world of playing and being protagonist of the activities of an Association being allowed to benefit from specific services addressed to the members.

What kind of services are offered by GioNa?

The coordination for the organization of the World Day of the Game (materials, press releases, assistance to the initiatives), the materials (posters, leaflets, various gadgets), the legal and scientific counselling, the visibility of the initiative, reductions on the training activities and on editorial products.

What is the Manifesto?

It is a shared document which was born from a debate with the main Italian game associations and which has been written by GioNa member Authorities. The Manifesto is based on the recognition of playing, in all its variables, as a basic and fundamental element for humanity.

What is the meaning of agreeing to the Manifesto?

The Manifesto sums up the commitments that the Playing Cities have taken becoming GioNa members: it is a concrete commitment and not a mere begging the question. To agree to the Manifesto, even for individuals and Associations , means to commit oneself to work concretely in order to realize its goals.

If one is not an Authority, how is it possible to agree to the manifesto?

Single persons or associations may agree to the Manifesto:

one just needs to fill in the relevant form.

What is the World Day of the Game ?

An initiative launched in 2003 by the International Association of Toy-libraries (ITLA) for the celebration of the right to play. It is celebrated one of the last days of May .

Why GioNa invites to the celebration of the World Day of the Game?

The aims of the day are in fully tuned with those of GioNa. The participation and celebration of the day is a way to fulfil the principles and to make the citizens aware of the themes and goals of playing
